Elation builds Structured Health Maintenance and seven additional Clinical Quality Measures October 2, 2017

We’re always looking for ways to make Elation easier to use and more impactful toward providing patient-centered care. Recently, two new feature enhancements – structured Health Maintenance and seven additional Clinical Quality Measures (CQMs) for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) are centered around these objectives.

With the addition of seven new CQMs in particular, for a total of 15 measures within Elation, your practice has more flexibility to choose measures that are most relevant to your practice. CMS requires that practices report on 6 MIPS Quality Measures.

Do you have questions about MIPS? Attend our MIPS Success webinar on October 3rd at 12:30 PM PST Click here to RSVP.

How to use Structured Health Maintenance

Elation’s Health Maintenance feature allows independent physicians to stay on top of patient health, deliver the right care at the right time, and plan ahead for future visits by giving physicians an overview of needed screenings.

The new Health Maintenance feature enables your practice to document and track the following screenings and exams:

  • Breast Cancer Screening
  • Colorectal Cancer Screening
  • Cervical Cancer Screening
  • Diabetes Eye Exam
  • Advanced Care Plan

These measures are calculated in real-time, and will refresh automatically when relevant data is added to the patient’s chart. By using the Health Maintenance feature you can also make sure you get credit for quality programs such as MIPS by addressing items in a patient’s chart.

To access the Health Maintenance feature within Elation, look toward the bottom of the patient’s Clinical Profile:

New Clinical Quality Measures

In addition to updating our Health Maintenance feature, we’ve also added seven new Clinical Quality Measures to Elation. These measures can now be tracked in your practice’s Clinical Quality Measures dashboard. In order to help you keep track of these measures, we’ve also created clinical reminders in the visit note for you to address during the patient visit.

Four of the new Clinical Quality Measures are screening measures that are directly linked to our new Health Maintenance feature.

  • [NQF 0032] Cervical Cancer Screening
  • [NQF 0034] Colorectal Cancer Screening
  • [NQF 0055] Diabetes: Eye Exam
  • [NQF 2372] Breast Cancer Screening

The additional three Clinical Quality Measures we have introduced are:

  • [NQF 0052] Use of Imaging Studies for Low Back Pain
  • [NQF 0101] Falls: Screening for Future Fall Risk
  • [NQF 2872] Dementia: Cognitive Assessment

Overall, we’re excited to have our users start using these new features. As always, we’re open to hearing more of your feedback and requests to continue to deliver on our Clinical First promise.
